After completing degree
courses my partner and I started the process of finding our first home. Having soon realised the majority of properties were out of our price range we decided that living on a boat would be a fun alternative.
We were fortunate enough to find a residential mooring and found a second hand boat which we purchased. Our first thought was to buy new, but this was not financially viable at the time. We were pleased with our boat but of course we spent a great deal of time and money on her after the initial purchase to bring her up to a standard.
After a couple of years I decided to put various skills that I had learnt in the building industry together with my electrical and electronic engineering degree and fitted out a new narrowboat which
became our new home.
During this process 
it occurred to me it was possible to supply a new boat at a price that my partner and I could have afforded at the beginning of our boating life.
